Proprietor Howard McGinniskin said it might seem a strange business mix, but there were many similarities, including working with steel pipe.
"We have been in business for 25 years and it seemed a natural progression," Howard said.
"Most air seeder components are made from the same material as car exhausts.
"We've gone from just doing auto work to about half-and-half automotive and air seeder work."
Howard and his wife, Anna, run the business, which can retrofit components to air seeders or build a complete system for new equipment.
"We can make and fit pretty much any part of the air seeder tubing, such as the risers, heads and boots, or do the whole lot as a system," Howard said.
"We have also developed a good design for a direct-drilling boot ideal for tined implements."
Howard said he sold his components around the state and into NSW and South Australia as well.
The Mallee field days is one of Howard and Anna's prime promotional opportunities.
"It's well worth going to Speed," Howard said.
"It's one of the few field days we attend, but it draws people from everywhere," he said.
"We have made many sales from the Mallee field days and that, in turn, has generated work via word of mouth from areas such as Ballarat and the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia."
The business also makes a conversion kit so that air seeders can be used as broadcast fertiliser spreaders.
"It's a relatively simple system which allows the air tubes to blow fertiliser out of several of the outlets on the rear of the cultivator bar," Howard said.
