Twenty questions are posed to the parties about their commitment to building better rest areas, better roads, truck safety and regulation.

ATA chief executive Stuart St Clair said party policies ahead of the election would have a direct impact on the industry and the national economy.

"Trucking plays a key role in the Australian economy, and with the freight task set to double, the decisions made by the incoming government will have a massive impact on Australia's ability to stay competitive into the future," Mr St Clair said.

Responses to the questionnaire would be published on Friday, August 13 after an August 11 deadline to the parties.

The responses would give people in the trucking industry the facts about what is being promised by each party, Mr St Clair said.

"They will then be able to make up their own minds on which party offers the best deal for their business, their jobs and their livelihood."
