A FIELD day comparing five perennial pasture species with grazing crops will be held near Longwood on September 9.
Organised by the Albury-Wodonga branch of the Grasslands Society, the bus-tour format will include visits to two properties.
The first, at Meadow Creek, will cover preparation and weed management in newly sown phalaris pasture and management techniques for production and persistence.
The second, at Longwood, will discuss the performance of varieties such as landmaster phalaris, yarck cocksfoot, uplands cocksfoot, flecha winter-active tall fescue and exceltas perennial brome.
It will also look at the use and management of ryecorn, chicory and banquet ryegrass.
