REAL estate agents are predicting a bumper spring selling season following good rain and a boost in farmer confidence.

Agents say a wide range of properties are expected to come on to the market this season.

DOWNUNDER Farmstays has called on Victorian families to open their homes to international students for a couple of nights. More than 60 beds are needed in the Macedon Ranges and Goldfields areas, with families required to provide meals, activities and site-seeing.

WorkSafe worry

RECENT rain has been welcomed by farmers, but WorkSafe is worried years of drought may lead to dangerous conditions.

Worksafe manufacturing, logistics and agriculture director Ross Pilkington urged farmers to check tread on the tyres of machinery and farm vehicles to ensure safety in the wet weather.

Tom's Huge win

AUSTRALIAN Tom McDermott, and his horse, Huge, won an equestrian silver medal at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore last week.

Tom was teamed with riders from China, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Oman to contest the mixed event as Team Australasia.
