POLL Dorset breeders will be out in force at a major breed show and sale this month.
The third Australasian Poll Dorset Championships will be held in Bendigo in a fortnight, and entries and exhibitor numbers have lifted 35 per cent.
There are 470 entries from 47 exhibitors, up from 310 entries from 35 exhibitors last year, Bendigo Agricultural Show Society secretary Rod Bowles said.
"It is the premier show for Poll Dorsets," Rod said.
Among the 470 entries are 22 Dorset Horns.
The show and stud ram sale will be held on September 11-13, with the Dorset Horn and Poll Dorset ewe judging on the Saturday, the ram judging on the Sunday and the ram sale and Australian Poll Dorset Society annual meeting on the Monday.
There are 84 Poll Dorset rams and three Dorset Horn rams entered in the ram sale, which will start at 1pm.
