GRAIN Growers Association chief executive officer Peter Flottmann left suddenly last Friday.

GGA chairman John Eastburn issued a statement late on Friday saying Mr Flottmann would end his employment that day.

The reason for his departure is not known.

Mr Flottmann joined GGA in January 2007, after a stint with NSW Farmers Association. Before that, he had his own agricultural consultancy and worked for Goodman Fielder, AWB Limited and Continental Grain.

Mr Eastburn said Mr Flottmann had steered GGA through a major change in the Australian grains industry.

He said Mark Allison, the managing director and CEO of GGA subsidiary BRI Australia, would temporarily fill in as CEO.
