THE state's top farm leader is urging lonely-hearted Victorian farmers to apply for the Channel Nine show The Farmer Wants a Wife.
Victorian Farmers Federation president Andrew Broad says many single Victorian farmers are keen to meet a partner to share their life with, but it was increasingly difficult to cross paths with a potential life partner.
"Finding a perfect match in the country can often be a tough ask for many farmers," Mr Broad said today.
"We spend our days working the land, often isolated from other people, which can result in a lonely lifestyle for many men and women, especially if they don’t have access to the range of social outlets that many in the city take for granted.
"There is a lot to love about the country lifestyle, and it is fantastic to see programs like The Farmer Wants a Wife encouraging farming men and women to get out there and share their experiences.
"While many rural communities are very good at organising social activities and events for people to meet, often with all the work involved in running a farm business there is little time left at the end of the day.
"You have to be proactive, and The Farmer Wants a Wife program is just one way of getting involved.
"I encourage all single farmers, whether male or female, to consider throwing their hat in the ring of romance and applying for the next season of The Farmer Wants a Wife."
