A LEADING regional bank has joined with the Salvation Army to launch a flood appeal for the Creswick and Clunes communities.
Bendigo and Adelaide Bank’s philanthropic arm, Community Enterprise Foundation, has partnered with Creswick and District Community Bank Branch and the Salvation Army to launch the Creswick and Clunes District Community Flood Appeal.
Last Saturday, record rains caused extensive flooding in the two Victorian towns and the surrounding area, with many properties and community facilities damaged by the floods.
The new appeal was launched today to assist the flood affected communities.
Manager of the Creswick and District Community Bank Branch, Les Vercoe, said the branch was pleased to be able to launch the appeal with an initial donation of $5,000.
"The Creswick and Clunes communities have been shocked by the impact of the floods and the widespread damage that has occurred, not only to community facilities but also to people homes and businesses," Mr Vercoe said.
"Creswick and District Community Bank branch is proud to be able to assist the community by launching the appeal and is calling for public donations to help support those who have been affected by the floods."
The Salvation Army's community relations officer, Major Colin Berris, said funds raised for the Creswick and Clunes area will assist the Salvation Army to work with the affected community and increase the level of support provided.
"The Salvation Army is pleased to be working with a local advisory committee to identify any gaps in need of funding," he said.
Donations to the Creswick and Clunes District Community Flood Appeal can be made at any Bendigo Bank branch or online at www.bendigobank.com.au/foundation/creswick
Donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.
