A TOUCH of Hollywood will come to Mildura tomorrow with the official world premiere of Summer Coda, filmed around the Sunraysia.

The romantic drama, starring Rachael Taylor, Alex Dimitriades, Susie Porter and hundreds of local extras, features the area's orange groves, the Murray and Mallee scrub.

It has been a boon for the town, which has suffered through years of drought.

Director Richard Gray said the film, to screen nationally from October 21, was "like a giant ad for Mildura".

"I don't think there's another Australian film that features a place so specifically as this one," he said.

Mr Gray said he would hold forums in the next month on the benefits to towns of hosting movie productions.
