MORNINGTON Peninsula Strawberry Farm, Sunny Ridge, snared a major national agribusiness award tonight.

The family business, which produces more with sales of $19 million from more than eight million punnets of strawberries, won the NAB Agribusiness Awards for Excellence Primary Producer of the Year Award.

A delighted Sunny Ridge director Mick Gallace said the award showed the strength of a family business that had been built from a husband and wife team 40 years ago.

“Sunny Ridge is a real family affair,” Mr Gallace said.

“We take great interest in packaging design innovation and creativity and this is managed by my daughter Nicole. My son Matt runs our wine and liqueur business, where he recently won a Double Gold at the San Francisco International Wine Competition for our strawberry Moscato,” he said.

“We are passionate about the products that we grow, and this award gives us some measurement of our performance against other companies.”

Alan Winney, Queensland Sugar chairman and Chairman and major shareholder of the Emerald Group, was Agribusiness Leader of the Year.
