FIFTY people have lost their jobs in regional Victoria after patient transfer company Ambicare went into liquidation.

Liquidators seized control of the Wimmera company on Monday.

Pitcher Partners' insolvency division partner David Vasudevan said the company closed down because it didn’t have enough cash to meet its commitments.

He said about 50 people were employed at the company’s bases in Horsham, Mildura, Bendigo, Ballarat, Warrnambool and Hamilton.

"I guess the silver lining for the workers is that it looks like their entitlements will be paid out in full," Mr Vasudevan said.

He said Pitcher Partners were still accessing the company’s financial situation but it was clear Ambicare owed cash to creditors and the Australian Tax Office.

A creditors meeting will be held on March 4 in Melbourne.

Ambicare could not be contacted for a comment.
