POLICE have arrested three people after searching for goods stolen during Kerang's flood crisis.

It is believed thieves broke into houses while residents of the north-west town were evacuated during January's flood.

Police believe thieves stole about $10,000 worth of goods from vacant homes.

A Victoria Police statement says about nine burglaries occurred at various properties and police have executed four search warrants.

The warrants have lead to three people being arrested and the recovery of more than $2000 worth of stolen goods.

Police are continuing their investigation and will talk to several people in the coming days.
