THERE seems to be no end in sight to the restocker buy-up with cows and calves hitting a new high of $2100 at Wodonga.

Restocker demand was equally strong in the unjoined heifers which sold to $910.

Lotfeeders continued to drive the heavier end of the steers with prices topping at $1030.Albury-Wodonga Independent Stock Agents yarded 1530 cattle for the special store sale.

Cattle sold mainly to the local area, including Corryong, Tallangatta, Myrtleford, Milawa, Albury-Wodonga and Gundagai.

JBS Australia livestock manager at Riverina Beef Peter Steer was active in the grown and yearling steer pens.

Mr Steer paid $870-$910, or 218-225c/kg, for steers weighing 390-412kg.

Heavy grown steers over 350kg sold for $830-$1030, or 218-250c/kg.

Yearling and weaner steers sold according to quality with the top pens peaking at $894 and then selling down to $760, or 227-282c/kg.

A highlight of the sale was rejoined mixed age cows and calves selling for a decade high of $2100.

First calf heifers with calves and not rejoined sold for $850-$1900.

Restocker demand was strong in the grown unjoined heifers over 300kg, selling for $630-$910, or 197-266c/kg.

Lighter unjoined heifers weighing under 300kg topped at $705 and sold down to $438 for plainer types (154-238c/kg).
