CASE has made several major upgrades to its loader backhoes with the launch of the Construction King Super T series.
Unveiled at the ACE Expo in Melbourne recently, the King Super T combines Case's machinery pedigree with a host of new features and more efficient technology.
Case product manager Blake Irwin said the two new King models were more fuel efficient and offered greater productivity than previous Case backhoes.
"The Super T models are 10 per cent more fuel efficient than previous models and the bucket break-out force has been boosted eight to 10 per cent so you get more power and use less fuel," Blake said.
"With the option of 128-litre or 145-litre fuel tanks, depending on the model, that will give you two full days of work on one tank."
There are two models of Super Ts.
The 590 ST has an 82kW engine, while the 580 ST has a 72kW engine.
Both backhoe loaders have a top speed of 39km/h and load-sensing hydraulics, which Blake said contributed to fuel savings.
"Load-sensing hydraulics means the power is there on demand, which is very efficient, especially when using implements such as the backhoe or front-end loader," he said.
The backhoe boom design has been re-engineered to improve transportability and digging capacity.
Case has designed overlapping backhoe boom cylinders that help keep the transport height of the STs under 3.5 metres.
Blake said the new boom design, which was slightly "slimmer" than previous models, aided visibility.
"The transport height has been reduced by 22cm and a curved main boom profile allows easy loading and improved digging ability," Blake said.
Other features included power-assisted braking, which Blake said was a big bonus when it came to driver fatigue.
"The power-assisted brakes mean minimal pressure is required on the foot pedal and when you are working constantly going backwards and forwards, that can make a big difference at the end of the day," Blake said.
