SO, IT has come to this.
PETA, that great moral crusader of our time, has been exposed as nothing more than a grubby porn peddler.
It is time for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to be told enough is enough.
The ends do not justify the means.
Treating women like pieces of meat makes any message they have against animal cruelty both hollow and meaningless.
For years we have been bombarded by images of women, either scantily clad or naked, staging protests in the name of animal rights.
It has its genesis in PETA's campaign against the fur trade, with its line "I'd rather go naked than wear fur".
That same tactic has moved on to protests against wool, dairy and meat.
What two naked women bathing in the middle of London - as happened last week - has to do with stopping people eating meat, we will never know.
There appears to be no shortage of willing volunteers to participate in these protests. Models, actresses and musicians are more than willing to get their gear off.
But do they really think about what they are doing?
PETA appear to have gone haywire.
From noble aims of preventing whaling and the fur trade, it has moved on to illogical campaigns that spread misinformation and untruths about legitimate industries.
We all know the campaign PETA has waged against mulesing and the wool industry. To read its description of how the wool industry works, is to read one of the greatest fairy tales ever told.
According to PETA, wool growers treat their sheep to unspeakable cruelty, with shearing designed merely for the sadistic pleasure of shearers. And its description of mulesing is as full-blown as a sheep's backside that hasn't been mulesed.
The double standards of PETA are breathtaking. And even worse is the apparent willingness of the "chattering class" to not only turn a blind eye to PETA's sexist tactics but to applaud them.
Each naked protest, each sucker that pays $5 to PETA to see a picture of a naked woman, is another nail in the credibility of this organisation, which crusades as a do-gooder but actually treats women as pets and playmates.
