MEET Henry - a legend at his local.
He enjoys a beer with the regulars every Sunday at The Logan Hotel, near St Arnaud, the Herald Sun reports.
Overweight and suffering damaged hooves, he was rescued from death's door by racing identity turned publican Geoff Turner.
Mr Turner, 72, started standing the 10-year-old Appaloosa pony in his dam until his hooves softened enough to be reworked and in six months Henry had a new lease of life.
A couple of months later he discovered a taste for beer when he tried one Mr Turner was halfway through drinking.
"Someone might have a quarter beer left and he'll finish it, but he knows his limits," Mr Turner said.
Mixing it with thirsty gold prospectors, bushwalkers and shearers, Henry drinks his fill of a Sunday then sleeps it off in the paddock.
Every now and then someone drops in with a new brew for Henry to try.
But after working up a hard-earned thirst carrying kids around, chasing other animals and nudging up to visitors, he always goes for a VB.
