GRAIN growers can see the latest crop protection and spraying technology at a series of field days near Elmore next week.

The field days are being run by Syngenta, in partnership with Incitec Pivot Fertilisers and CLAAS Harvest Centre Echuca.

The big event will allow hundreds of producers and their farm advisors to assess a range of new crop protection products and get up close and personal with cereal varieties in a ‘real world’ environment.

Demonstration plots will objectively point to the performance of new seed treatments, fungicides and herbicides alongside  stands of new varieties of canola and wheat.

CLAAS Harvest Centre Echuca will be inviting producers and contractors to a demonstration of 2011 technology offerings from leading European manufacturers, Amazone and CLAAS.

Headlining this demo will be the all-new Amazone UX6200 trailed sprayer, which boasts a 6200-litre tank and optional 40-metre boom.

CLAAS Harvest Centre Echuca principal, Brendan Caffery, said the UX series incorporated a host of engineering features designed to maximise operating efficiency.

The booms feature advanced technology borrowed from the aeronautics industry and high grade stainless steel components wherever possible.

The low centre of gravity and minimal transport width of just 2.6m enables fast, easy passage from one paddock to the next.

Also on display will be the Amazone UF1801 rear-mounted sprayer, whose excellent manoeuvrability and low centre of  gravity makes it ideal for smaller, undulating or awkward-shaped paddocks.

Accompanying the two sprayers will be two advanced technology tractors from the CLAAS line-up, the Axion 840 CMATIC and Arion 610C.

The Axion and Arion series are ideal for mixed farming enterprises. The Arion 610 is suitable for smaller operations that require a tractor in the 140 to 180hp range.

CLAAS Harvest Centre Echuca is the regional sales, service and parts hub for the complete line-up of CLAAS tractors and grain and forage harvesting technology, as well as Amazone sprayers, spreaders and cultivators.

The Syngenta Learning Centre field days will be conducted over five days, starting August 22.
