SHEPPARTON United has claimed back-to-back Goulburn Valley league premierships after toppling Mooroopna by 15 points on Sunday.

The Demons overcame a six-point three-quarter-time deficit to post a 11.12 (78) to 9.9 (63) victory in country Victoria's last football grand final for season 2011.

Demons forward Tim Looby went from villian to hero in the win, inspiring his side's final quarter fight back after being yellow carded and spending much of the third term off the ground.

Demons President Ray Dobson said Looby atoned for the earlier incident which saw the reigning premier one man down for 15 minutes.

"He finished with only three goals, but he was really instrumental in the last quarter... kicking an amazing goal from a tight angle," Dobson said.

34-year-old Demons midfielder Nathan Gemmill was named best-on-ground while Daniel Collyer starred for the Cats in their failed attempt to break a 25-year premiership drought.
