RACING Victoria intends to disband Country Racing Victoria and take control of all racing in the state.

In what shapes as a major power play that has riled the country administration and clubs, RVL has put the plan on its board agenda.

It hopes to approve the move at next month's board meeting.

RVL chief executive Rob Hines confirmed the push.

"The start of the new (wagering) joint venture (with Tabcorp) gives us the opportunity to restructure RVL's relationship with country and metropolitan clubs,'' he said.

An RVL official said this was the only chance in 25 years to provide RVL with autonomy, along the lines of the AFL Commission.
