THE State Government has been urged to change legislation so country football and other events are not being held illegally.
The Weekly Times reported in August hundreds of football clubs and event organisers were risking fines of $61,000 because of Government red tape.

The Building Act requires event organisers to obtain Place of Public Entertainment occupancy permits for any entertainment event at an enclosed public venue greater than 500 sq m in area, to ensure public safety.
But the law is left to individual councils to interpret.
The Municipal Association of Victoria will urge chief executive Rob Spence said it had met the Victorian Building Commission and would write to Planning Minister Matthew Guy.
