NHILL'S Agricultural Show shone with more than $6 million worth of machinery on display last week.
Show committee member and site organiser Nathan Wheeler said the machinery display came at the right time of the season to ensure plenty of deals were done.
He said farmers the confidence to buy machinery in a good year.
"I think it is because farmers' crops are out in head and they can almost see what they are going to get in - we are only three weeks off beginning harvest."
Headers dominated the display this year with a range of new models prepared for delivery to local buyers.
Headers and tractors on show included a CR9060 New Holland, 7088 Case and a 9695, 270kW (360hp) single-rotor Massey Ferguson fitted with direct high-volume grain unloading system.
"AGCO had their new 40-inch (12.2m) draper front on display and we had 7R series John Deere tractors, a new Case Magnum 260 tractor, a New Holland T7, a Fendt 900 Vario 360hp (270kW) and a 8000 series Massey FWA," Nathan said.
Sprayers were also represented with Goldacres, Berthoud and Hardi models on exhibit and a range of grain storage and handling equipment including galvanised barrel augers from Canada, Brandt augers, Kwik Kleen grain cleaners and locally built Sherwell and Campbell silos and field bins.
"All the dealers said they wanted bigger sites next year," Nathan said.
"We've got a lot of people wanting to exhibit at the show but we just don't have the room," Nathan said.
Held at purpose-built grounds and with a 127-year history, the show manages to close the town.
"We have a holiday in town and all the schools are closed. The 1883 hexagonal bar is an icon of the event and probably where most of the deals are done," Nathan said.
Becoming a twilight show has been a fillip for the event.
"We are pulling a lot of people and farmers from Goroke, Kaniva, Rainbow, Jeparit, Dimboola and even Horsham."
Vintage International tractors and about 25 International stationary added more appeal to the show.
"There was a fantastic display of vintage cars from Monaros to Chevrolets and Cadillacs and Buiks," Nathan said.
