WITH the Victorian championships only a few weeks away, dressage riders were out in force on the weekend.
Youngsters looked to earn their place with qualifying scores needed for the Young Horse and Young Pony classes at Dressage with the Stars.
At the dressage championship fundraiser at Werribee Park, Charlotta Pederson and Dunkerque won the Grand Prix.
Winners in the Intermediate classes were Debra Court's Sandro Star and Marianne Crawford's Jaybee Bellaire Amanda.
Debra and Sandro Star added the Prix St Georges to their ribbon collection with a solid 65.1 per cent score.
Monica Bird would have been pleased with Quinlan's winning score of 67.3 per cent in the Medium 4B test and Nicole Blanks equally so with Just a Gem's 64.6 per cent in the Medium 4C.
Faye Hinchcliffe's Northern Leandro performed well for his young rider and took the advanced class 5B and placed second to Emma Crocker's Rolando in the 5C class.
Young Rider of the Year in dressage, Matthew Archibald, won both the elementary tests with AEA Lorenzo.
There are some really talented young horses coming through the novice classes, with Marnie Barrett's Ochre Noir and Vivienne Axton's San Remo B both scoring in the 70 per cent in their wins and showed they were well on their way to stepping up a grade.
In the preliminary section for the youngsters, the winners were Celeste Amezdroz ' Jaybee Alonzo and Belcam Sir Dior, ridden by Nicole Redmond.
