THE quality of the young horses at the Tatura Dressage Showcase was proof positive proof of the sport's progression.

In the four-year-old young horse class at Tatura, the two highest placegetters, Simone Pearce's Faust and Shanon McKimmie's Penmain Fabian, scored more than seven out of the maximum 10 score.

Fabian's score was excellent for a pony competing against horses.

McKimmie was again to the fore in the five-year-old young horse class, with Burren Dah Melrose scoring eight, pushed all the way by Andrea Taylor's Narwarrah Park Pop Rock with 7.7 and Pearce's Burlesque taking third with seven.

Katrina Bolmat scored 6.8 to win the six-year-old young horse class with Hollands Bend Weltitch and the young horse also took out the Medium 4B with a 63.6 score.

The open preliminary 1B test was won by Jodi Dobson, with Platypus Run Frente scoring 71.6 per cent, while Robyn Pearce's Klass Van Bokkum won the novice 2B scoring a solid 68.4 per cent.

The elementary 3B went to Rachel Stock's Rimini Park Emmerich with 67.3.

The ponies were out in force as all intending competitors for the young pony classes at 2012 DJWTS must have a minimum of two young pony qualifiers with a minimum score of 6.5.

Sienna Taylor Maid and Morgan Webb Liddle scored an excellent 69 per cent in the pony FEI test, and Kate Newton's charming Welsh B Nilton Mayfair walked away with a great score of 71.2 per cent in the pony preliminary.

Burren Dah Melrose was back on the winners list in the pony novice class and in the pony Elementary Strathconon Palado won with 63.2 per cent.
