A GIPPSLAND mum who says she lives with constant pain after being hit by a flying goalpost is suing a local football club.
Mother of two Joanne McKinnon, 41, said she was lucky to be alive after a gust of wind picked up the post, which had been covered with a tarpaulin and used as a makeshift shelter, the Herald Sun reports.
"I'm lucky to be alive and I am lucky that I can still walk," the Gippsland woman said.
"This incident has turned my life upside down and now I live in constant pain. This entire episode has had a dramatic impact on my independence and my family."
Mrs McKinnon is seeking hospital and medical expenses for back and neck injuries over the incident last year.
She blames the East Gippsland United Football Club for not securing the goal.
Maurice Blackburn lawyer Trang Tran said Mrs McKinnon's injuries were preventable and sporting clubs had a duty of care.
