MAFFRA export Danny Butcher will join his older brother, John, at Port Adelaide Football Club.
Danny was selected by the Power at No. 21 in today's AFL Rookie Draft and will fly to the club later this week for a pre-Christmas introduction.
Like his older brother, Danny was recruited from regional TAC Cup team Gippsland Power, where he won the best-and-fairest medal this season.
He also came second in the Morrish Medal, the TAC Cup's best-and-fairest.
Port Adelaide general manager of football Peter Rohde described Danny as a "tough, competitive player".
"He has had two really good years. He played very well in the finals of the TAC Cup as a 17 year-old," Rohde told the Port Adelaide website.
"He probably had a slow start to this year and missed out on the under-18 national championships, but from the mid-year onwards his form really picked up again and he won Gippsland's best-and-fairest... so he's had a really good season and he's a player who we think can add something to our midfield."
Danny told The Weekly Times in July he and John were "very different players".
While John is a 200cm marking forward, Danny is a fearless inside midfielder and competes hard to win the contested ball.
"I suppose I could attract a little bit more attention because of John, but I think everyone realises how different we are," Danny said.
"But he talked me through what it was like being on an AFL list and the pressure of that, and moving away and stuff. So we talk about that a bit and I'm always asking him questions about it."
Hampered by injury since being drafted by the Power at the end of 2009, John burst on to the AFL stage this year, booting 11 goals in four matches at the end of the season.
VCFL representative player Jackson Sheringham was also selected in today's rookie draft, picked by Geelong at No. 36.
Sheringham, 21, who starred in the Geelong Football League's interleague victory over Bendigo in May, had played a handful of games in Geelong's VFL team this year.
Tall forwards Lachlan Smith (from Benalla, selected at No. 17 by Collingwood) and Jai Sheahan (Newtown & Chilwell, No. 6, Melbourne) were also snapped up by AFL clubs, as was key defender Andrew Boseley (South Barwon, No. 52, Hawthorn).
Other country footballers to make the grade included Myrtleford duo Jack Crisp (No. 40, Brisbane Lions) and Frazer Dale (No. 50, Carlton).
