WOOLWORTHS today introduced certified Meat Standards Australia graded Australian beef to its shelves.

The move is said to give customers a guarantee on consistent eating quality of the beef.

Woolworths' fresh food general manager Pat McEntee said in a statement today that is was the first national supermarket to deliever the MSA graded Australian beef to customers.

The supermarket has worked with Meat and Livestock Australia for over a decade on the grading system which it says will take the guesswork out of buying and cooking beef.

MSA is an industry audited program that delivers at eating quality guarantee.

"Woolworths is the country's favourite butcher and we sell more Australian beef than any other retailer," Mr McEntee said.

"The introduction of this grading system offers our customers an independent endorsement of the quality.

"One of the most commonly asked questions our butchers receive from our customers is 'how do I cook my beef?' This grading system now takes the guesswork out of how to cook the perfect steak or roast.

"There will also be information booklets in stores to guide customers on how to cook these cuts of beef to achieve the best results."

Twelve beef cuts including fillet steak, blade steak, rump roast and porterhouse steak, have been certified as MSA Australian graded beef.
