THE clean-up from last January's Victorian floods is expected to continue well into this year - and perhaps into next.

This week marks the first anniversary of the floods, which affected more than 100 towns in 70 local government areas.

Buloke Shire mayor David Pollard said most council facilities in his shire had been repaired.

Road network damage was estimated at $20 million, with resealing hoped to start by March.

"I think we have done extremely well considering Charlton was one of the hardest-hit towns in Victoria," he said.

"In the coming weeks we should see our theatre reopen."

Hepburn Shire flood recovery manager Jenny Browne said the hardest-hit towns of Clunes and Creswick were recovering.

"(About) 50 per cent of flood works have been completed and the balance we hope to complete in the next six to eight months," Ms Browne said.
