ENTRIES are still being taken for the Peter Westblade Memorial Merino challenge.
Teams of 30 Merino wethers will be run under similar conditions for three years to work out which are the most profitable.
Each entry is divided into two teams with one going into the meat challenge and the other the wool challenge. Entry is open to any commercial breeders who run self-replacing Merino sheep.

Cleanskin info day
TASMANIA will host its first cleanskin information day and sale on the weekend.
The event, being held at the Deloraine Showgrounds, includes a sale of 200 registered and commercial Dorpers and White Dorpers.
Stock will also be offered on Auctionsplus.

Wodonga saleyard appeal
THE push to squash Wodonga's proposed $24 million saleyard has gained momentum with a renewed appeal.
Barnawartha farmer Warrick Margery has lodged a fresh appeal with the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal on behalf of the Save our Saleyards group.
He said the appeal would be based on environmental and lifestyle grounds, including excessive truck movements and noise.
The saleyard is proposed for a 103ha site at Barnawartha North.
Peppin competition
THE countdown is continuing to the next Peppin Shaw flock competition in the Riverina.
With just a couple of weeks to go, time is running out to book on this tour of some of the best commercial sheep operations in the Riverina.
Judges this year include Cam Munro, the manager of Egelabra Merinos, one of the biggest ram vendors in Australia.

New Shorthorn boss
THE Australian Shorthorn Beef Society has a new director.
Tony Fountain will become part of the team from the AGM on, and Keith Ridley and Richard Ham have been reappointed directors.
There was no need for an election as there were only three nominees for four vacant director spots.
Australia Day celebration
NO one should have a beef in Sydney tomorrow with Herefords having a stake in a major Australia Day celebration.
Hereford Prime is sponsoring the "Big Telly" in Hyde Park.
And the Herefords Australia Ltd will have Hank the Hereford bull in the park for people to pose with.
