UNITED DAIRY Power has increased its milk price to suppliers.

The step-up of 20 cents a kilogram butterfat and 40c/kg protein, announced this afternoon will be back-paid to the beginning of this month and available for premium milk.

This lift brings the season average weighted price up to $5.42 a kilogram of milk solids according to UDP general manager Darryl Cardona.

A company statement said UDP had recently completed the acquisition of South Australian dairy factories at Murray Bridge and Jervois.

The sites were owned by Lion and manufacture the pizza cheese brand Caboolture.
