JOINED Merino ewes topped the market at the special store sheep sale at Wycheproof.
Prices at the top end were $20 to $30 cheaper than at the mid-December sale, but there was strong demand for unjoined Merino ewes and Merino wethers.
An unnamed client of Elders Wycheproof paid the day's top price of $213 for two pens totalling 350 May-June 2010-drop, Woolkabin blood, August shorn, ewes joined to White Suffolk rams, from the Stewart family.
Joined Border Leicester-Merino cross ewes sold from $144 to $204 and first-cross ewe lambs made $122 to $188.
Young unjoined Merino ewes fetched $138-$186 and Merino wethers sold to $130.
Buyers came from Avoca, Ballarat, Bendigo, Birchip, Boort, Casterton, Hamilton, Inglewood, Naracoorte, Pyramid Hill, Swan Hill, Warracknabeal and Wycheproof.
