Asked why he had chosen Yarrawonga, Fevola said the club had approached him at the right time after the decision was made to stay in Australia this year and not to try out as an NFL punter in the United States.
"Yarrawonga seems like a great club and it's a very good league, probably the best league outside the state competitions," Fevola said.
"I'm looking forward to playing again and getting myself fit."
Yarrawonga president Glenn Brear said the club was proud to have brought a high-profile recruit to country football.
"We have been at the forefront of trying to recruit someone of this calibre to country football and we’re proud that we’ve been able to come to an agreement with Brendan," Brear said.
"Country football is in huge trouble and a player of Brendan’s stature and ability is terrific for the Ovens and Murray league and for Yarrawonga."
Brear said negotiations began some weeks ago and were finalised today.
Asked why they targeted Fevola, Brear said they were obviously aware of his history but believed the former Carlton and Brisbane full forward would "improve our football and netball club".
While Brear shied away from rumours Fevola would receive more than $100,000 for his services this season, he did elude to a possible agreement involving third parties or supporters of the club.
