THE floods in Queensland and northern NSW are not expected to cause great losses to the nation's sorghum crops.

GrainCorp spokesman Angus Trigg said the bulk of the crop was unaffected by the heavy rains and floods.

Mr Trigg said most of the sorghum growing area was east of the flood-affected regions.

He said some of these crops would benefit from the rain.

But crops further west had suffered flood damage, particularly in low-lying areas.
