SELF-PROPELLED windrow manufacturer MacDon has linked with John Deere to supply the global giant with select products.
As part of the agreement, MacDon will manufacture select models of self-propelled windrowers, including draper and auger headers, and pull-type auger mower conditioners and brand them in the John Deere colours.
John Deere also will continue to manufacture select models.
The combined relationship will offer Deere dealers and customers an expanded product line of self-propelled windrowers.
The expanded windrower product line-up will be supported by John Deere dealers and integrated into Deere's sales, service and parts processes for hay and forage customers around the world.
The Winnipeg Free Press has reported concerns being raised about the link. MacDon already makes the same kind of equipment it will also be making for Deere and distributes it through its MacDon network.
John Schmeiser of the Calgary-based Canada West Equipment Dealers Association said: "All I know is that MacDon dealers really like doing business with MacDon.
"This is a very professional organisation, and knowing the MacDon people, I am sure that they would have gauged the impact on existing MacDon dealers before they did this."
