GIPPSLAND residents have witnessed an AFL invasion this week.

To the delight of locals, St Kilda and Melbourne players visited the region on Monday and Tuesday as part of the AFL's community camps.

The Demons travelled to Wonthaggi and Phillip Island for their two day camp, while the Saints made Bairnsdale home for theirs.

Both clubs held superclinics for primary school students, giving their young fans the chance to get up close and personal with their football heroes.

The community camps conclude when Collingwood visits Wangaratta on Monday and Tuesday next week.
