EAST coast bulk handler GrainCorp will close its 2011-12 wheat pools this Friday.
The decision will allow grain growers taking the distribution payment option to receive their first instalment.
GrainCorp pools manager Stuart Clarke said the pools were a popular option this season due to low cash prices at harvest.
Mr Clarke said there was potential for prices to increase due to tightening coarse grain stocks and concerns freezing conditions in Europe will affect the region's crops.
