HUNDREDS of women will flock to the sleepy town of Wallace next month in the search for love.

The Victorian town is an unlikely romantic hot spot, but last year's inaugural Wallace Wants a Wife event led to 12 couples getting together - including one pair who will marry later this year - and the word has spread.

This year, Chantelle Sutherland, 25, of Greendale, will be among the romantic hopefuls when the lovefest kicks off at Wallace Hotel on March 3.

She met someone last year, but it didn't work out.

"I haven't given up my hopes - he was a nice guy and we spent a couple of weeks together and then we went our separate ways," Ms Sutherland said.

"Hopefully this year I will find my Prince Charming."

Last year Wallace's population more than doubled when 500 lonely hearts, aged 21-60, descended on the local pub.
