PRICES peaked at $18,000 at southern Australia's biggest single vendor on-property autumn whiteface sale.

Hosted on-property at Adelong by the Pearce family, the Yavenvale Hereford and Poll Hereford sale drew 90 registered buyers.

From the 95 bulls offered, 92 were sold for an average of $5510 – almost $1000 up on last year.

The sale topped at $18,000 and grossed $507,000.

Tony and Lyndal Bennett, from Dromore Station, at Wilcannia in NSW, paid the top price for Yavenvale Fusion F078.

The rising two-year-old bull was sired by Bowen Tornado Z260 and ranked in the top one per cent on Breedplan for 200 and 600 day weight, intramuscular fat and grainfed index.

The bull had been DNA tested as 90 per cent homozygous polled.

Vendor James Pearce was pleased with the sale result.

Mr Pearce said buyers were chasing bulls with balanced Breedplan figures, natural thickness and doing ability.

“We had buying strength from four states and many multiple buyers,’’ he said.

Repeat clients Nelson and Kath McIntosh, of Yackandandah, bought a total of six bulls.

“We had a great mix of new and old clients – just three bulls went into stud herds,’’ Mr Pearce said.

“Seven bulls made over $10,000 but in saying that, bulls sold from $2500 to $18,000.

“The second half of the sale went just as well as the first half.

“It was the biggest offering at Yavenvale, and the biggest single vendor on-property sale south of Dubbo this autumn.’’
