BULLS and commercial females grossed almost $900,000 at the Injemira Beef Genetics sale today.
Held by the Greening family on-property at Ladysmith, near Wagga Wagga, the sale drew 89 registered bidders.
Bulls sold into NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania, King Island and Western Australia.
A total of 68 bulls sold for a 100 per cent clearance to top at $12,000, average $5683 and gross $386,500.
Last year Injemira cleared 62 bulls to average $5200.
Opening the sale, stud principal Marc Greening announced the winner of The Weekly Times win-a-bull competition.
Young Mansfield breeder Brodie Munro was the winner of 17-month-old Injemira Aberdeen.
Mr Greening said the poll Hereford bull would be used over black baldy females in the Mansfield herd for the European Union market.
Repeat Injmeira clients Cameron and Glenda Martin, Old Cobran Pastoral, Deniliquin, paid the top price of $12,000 for Injemira Cavalier.
Sired by Pine Hill Cavalier, the July 2010 drop bull weighed 764kg.
Mr Martin said the bull was low birthweight, a genetic outcross and would be used on heifers.
The sale was kicked off with the offering of 400 joined elite commercial females and 50 heifers with calves.
All females were European Union eligible.
Markwood Injemira clients John and Yvonne Muraca paid the top price of $2075 for the opening pen of heifers and calves.
The ex-Injemira stud heifers were aged 26-27 months and had calves aged to seven weeks by Injemira Cavalier.
"These will set us up for the next 10 years,'' Mr Muraca said.
"They will be joined to Injemira bulls - we are now 20 cows off being completely an Injemira blood herd.
"The cows and calves sold for a little more than I thought - I came to get one pen and ended up with two.''
Mr and Mrs Muraca paid $1850 for the second pen of 22 first-calf heifers.
Pregnancy tested-in-calf heifers, due to calve in March to Injemira sires, topped at $1625 and sold down to $975.
Spring calving heifers, also joined to Injemira sires, sold for $900-$1125.
Other major buyers on the day included Lima Park Pastoral, Swanpool, with Injemira Poll National for $10,500.
Lima Park manager Hamish McMillan said the owners, the White family, had been on the Injemira bloodline for five years.
"This year we are focused on breeding soft animals with doing ability,'' Mr McMillan said.
"The sale today had terrific commercial support.''
Vendor Marc Greening said the average was well up on last year with many new clients attending.
"It was very strong - I know there were people who missed out on eight bulls,'' he said.
"One third of the sale was new clients.''
Repeat stud client Glenn Bowman, Ridgeview Herefords, Rosedale, paid $8000 for Injemira Invaluable.
Mr Bowman said the bull offered muscle content, good performance figures, high milk and dollar indexes.
"It was a good sale - no extremes in the market,'' he said.
"There was a solid floor right through the sale.''
