THE recent Show Horse Council autumn show was the last of the big Victorian events.

The action now moves north to NSW for the Grand Nationals and Sydney Royal.

The event, at Werribee Park Equestrian Centre, had organisers believing they must be the best drought breakers in Australia.

The previous three events had been in dismal weather.

However, this time they escaped the worst, as the torrential rain fell on the previous day.

And while the surrounds were soggy, at least, on this occasion, it was possible to relax and enjoy the event.

Champion large hack was Armstrong, ridden by Christy O'Sullivan, and the small hack winner was Crewe and Chanele Hunter. The Galloway winners were Graham Elliot's Holly's Galaxy, shown as usual by Daryl Hayes, and Casey Waldock's Janevelyn Chivas Regal.

Holly's Tribute and Lucinda Fraser took out the large pony sash and the small pony champion was the Reimer Family's Radford Lodge Candy Cane.

Lovely pinto mare Fairlight Acres Carly, shown by C Bellman and S. Horspole, won the Shetland Pony class.

In the strong Show Hunter section, the winners were those who had been well proven at most of the big shows through this season - in Daizi Plumb's Bamborough Special Girl, Glendebourne Monopoly and Tiffany Greenhill, Shelley Penny's Sheldene Carnival, Electric Dreams shown by Clint Bilson and Vancouver Park My Amour shown by Danielle Pell.
