UPDATE: A FATHER shot and wounded his son and his mate when they accidentally walked into his line of fire during a rabbit-hunting trip.
The boys, aged 14 and 15, were out shooting with the 48-year-old man yesterday at Majorca, near Maryborough.
Police believe they were shot after walking up a ridge into the man's path as he fired his shotgun at an animal about 11.45am.
They suffered wounds to their upper body and have been flown to the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.
An Ambulance Victoria spokesman said the 15-year-old copped the brunt of the blast.
He said the teenager had been unconscious for a period.
The 14-year-old suffered pellet wounds to the chest and arms.
A spokeswoman from the Royal Children's Hospital this morning said one boy was in a serious condition while the other was in a stable condition.
The hunting accident happened near the Dunach-Eddington Rd, leaving local residents in shock.
Victoria Police this morning told Weekly Times Now local detectives were still investigating the circumstances of the incident.
