POLICE divers in South Australia have pulled off a needle in a haystack exercise.

They found a new bride's wedding ring which was dropped into the murky waters of the River Murray.

Tori and Saxton Brown had their wedding ceremony on a jetty at Berri, in South Australia's Riverland, two weeks ago, but the bride went without her ring after the priest accidentally dropped it into the river.

A police spokesman says divers were in the area last weekend on a training exercise and after hearing of the incident decided to try to find the missing ring.

It took two days, but eventually they were successful, returning it to the bride this week.
