WOOLWORTHS is raising the stakes in the controversial home-brand wars with a new national ad campaign to hit TV screens tonight.
The advertisements, to air on all major commercial networks, will promote its exclusive Woolworths Select range of products, claiming they are the same "flavour" as long-standing brands, but without artificial colours and flavours.
The move is set to further anger Australian manufacturers, who are accusing both Woolworths and Coles of squeezing out products by mimicking them and selling them at a far cheaper price.
