THE top prices were mostly firm at the sale of about 7000 sheep at Wycheproof.

But agents said prices for lesser quality stock were up to $20 cheaper than recent sales.

Joined Border Leicester-Merino cross ewes sold from $108 to $208, unjoined ewes made $124 and first-cross ewe lambs made $110 to $174.

Unjoined Merino ewes sold at $68 to $141, joined Merino ewes fetched $95 to $184, and Merino wethers made $37 to $109.

A client of Rodwells Boort paid the day's top price of $208 for 117 one and two-year-old Border Leicester-Merino cross ewes, October shorn and carrying 100 per cent Poll Dorset and White Suffolk lambs, from Geoff Rumbold of Leaghur.

Buyers came from Ararat, Avoca, Ballarat, Benalla, Bendigo, Boort, Casterton, Charlton, Deniliquin, Echuca, Euroa, Kerang, Navarre, St Arnaud, Stawell and Wycheproof.
