THE NSW Rural Fire Service declared a total fire ban today for greater Sydney and Hunter areas, with a forecast of 37C.
The ban means no outdoor fires are permitted today."We'll be seeing severe fire danger in those areas,'' an RFS spokesman said.
Areas under the ban include the Blue Mountains, Gosford, Hawkesbury, Wyong, Cessnock, Dungong, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Muswellbrook, Newcastle, Port Stephens, Singleton, the Upper Hunter and the greater Sydney region.
The ban is in place until midnight.
