PRICES continued their downward trend at today's store sheep sale at Swan Hill, falling $20 across most categories.

Several of the usual buyers were notably absent from the crowd, probably due to the date clash with sales at Jerilderie and Horsham.

Unjoined 2011-drop Merino ewes made $67-$135 and older Merino ewes sold at $41-$92.

Young Merino wethers fetched up to $46, one-year-old Merino wethers to $55 and woolly crossbred lambs sold at $55 and $60.50.

A pen of 400 May-June 2011-drop, Greenfields blood, August shorn ewes made the day's top price of $135 for Surveyors Lake, at Ivanhoe.

The pen was part of a consignment from the Dettman family of more than 1840 of last year's drop of ewes which sold at prices from $85.

Buyers came from Ballarat, Balranald, Birchip, Charlton, Horsham, Kerang, Mildura, Ouyen, Sea Lake, St Arnaud, Swan Hill and Wycheproof.
