RESIDENTS in the Gascoyne and west Pilbara in Western Australia are being warned of a severe fire danger today.

A severe fire danger rating is in force in the Gascoyne, which takes in the Shires of Cue, Meekatharra, Mount Magnet, Murchison, Sandstone, Upper Gascoyne and Yalgoo.

A severe fire danger rating is also in place in inland parts of the Shires of Carnarvon and Shark Bay, the far western part of the Shire of Menzies, and the western edge and south-western tip of the Shire of Wiluna.

In the Pilbara, a severe fire danger rating is in place for the inland part of the Shire of Ashburton.
