EMPLOYMENT Minister Bill Shorten says the creation of 18,700 full-time jobs in October is impressive.
Australian Bureau of Statistics data released today also showed the jobless rate remaining at 5.4 per cent, when economists had expected a rise to 5.5 per cent.Mr Shorten said this solid result confirms that more than 820,000 jobs have now been created since Labor came to power in November 2007.
"This is a standout achievement in the context of fragile global growth and high levels of unemployment in advanced economies around the world," Mr Shorten said in a statement.
"Australia has an enviable set of economic fundamentals that sees us performing well in the face of these persistent global headwinds."
