FARMERS now have the ability to get instantaneous grain prices in the paddock, thanks to a new GrainCorp iPhone app.
The new app allows growers to access grain prices posted at all GrainCorp storage sites by traders.It highlights the day's big price movers and estimated pool returns.
Growers are then able to contact local traders by phone to negotiate the sale of their grain if they are happy with the price.
GrainCorp storage and logistics general manager Nigel Hart said the iPhone app was free to download from the App Store.
Mr Hart said GrainCorp's app gave growers instant access to all of the many prices posted at the bulk handler's storages.
"This helps growers take advantage of the strong competition for their grain in our network,'' he said.
The smart phone app allowed GrainCorp to advise growers on site segregations and notifications, along with a summary of a farmer's deliveries.
GrainCorp said the next phase for the app was to develop a system where growers could transact their grain business from wherever they were using the iPhone.
