TWO new faces will join the Meat and Livestock Australia board.

John McKillop and Christine Gilbertson were elected to the board yesterday at the company's annual general meeting in Fremantle yesterday.

Gregory Harper and Peter Trefort were re-elected for another term.

MLA managing director Scott Hansen said the company remained focused on creating opportunities across cattle, sheep and goat supply chains.

He also spoke about the impact the high Australian dollar was having on producer returns since the AGM was last held in Western Australia in 2003.

"In 2003, the export market paid US$2.3 billion for Australian beef. In 2012, for just five per cent extra volume, they paid US$4.8 billion."
