A PARAGLIDER had a miraculous escape after crashing and hitting his head in Victoria's North-East yesterday.

The 50-year-old suffered a deep laceration to his head but paramedics said he was conscious and even wanted to get up from the crash scene in Bright, the Herald Sun reports.

However, he was placed on a spinal board and taken by ambulance to Wangaratta Base Hospital.

He is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

“Despite any obvious signs of injury, we do not take chances and we took him to hospital to be checked out – especially for any internal injuries,” John Mullen, from Ambulance Victoria, said.

The incident, at Mystic Flight Park on Morses Creek Rd, Bright, happened about 12.45pm.
